Furuno VR7000S Simplified Voyage Data Recorder

The VR7000S Simplified Voyage Data Recorder (S-VDR) is an IMO-compliant system that collects and stores navigation data from ship sensors for easy retrieval and investigation. It meets IEC61996-2 standards and allows ship owners to upgrade or replace existing SVDRs using only the necessary components. Designed with SSD storage and durable components, it ensures long-term reliability for both mandatory and voluntary installations.

The system includes Live Player software for real-time data viewing and can be paired with optional Data Recording Units (DRUs) — either fixed or float-free with EPIRB — built to withstand severe conditions during incidents. Like an aircraft black box, the VR7000S helps investigators analyze navigation data and bridge activity before accidents to determine their causes.
